Costello’s Birthday (The Glass House 23/8/06)

Peter Costello has just turned 49. After tax, that’s about 31.

Peter spent the day having his cake and eating it too.

Peter’s birthday cake was a splendid affair. He even donated a tiny sliver for the underprivileged, before giving the rest to Rupert Murdoch.

As a special treat, his wife dressed up as an interest rate. But he still can’t get her to go down…

John Howard gave him a great present, “The Book of Runners-Up”. / “The Book of Heroic Failures”. / a framed picture of himself, captioned “Prime Minister, 1996-infinity” / a framed picture of Peter, captioned “World’s Greatest Non-Prime Minister”.

Costello joined the Young Labor Party at Uni and was elected to Parliament as a Liberal at the age of 32. He was a prodigy at backstabbing hypocrisy!

He joined the Young Labor Party at Uni and ended up being elected to Parliament as a Liberal – and who says both parties are the same?

And just like John Howard, Peter’s promising to address the leadership issue around the time of his 64th birthday.

Happy birthday! Can I go first with the birthday bashings!!!?

It’s his 49th Smirkday…

And, every birthday, he makes the same old wish…

Costello celebrated by tearing pictures of John Howard into tiny pieces and making them into spitballs…

Costello celebrated by getting his wife several new million-dollar jobs…
